Schiro, Golden Eagles earn repeat Region IV DIII title

MADISON, WISC. - The 2018 Region IV Division III Women's Basketball Tournament played out in nearly the same fashion as the 2017 edition, and both ended with Rock Valley College as the Region IV champions. The top-seeded Golden Eagles pulled away from third-seeded Joliet Joliet College in the fourth quarter to earn a 73-55 victory and a second consecutive crown.

Rock Valley College, which opened the weekend with an 85-57 defeat of fourth-seeded Elgin Community College (16-13) behind 19 points from Madison Vincencio, outscored the Wolves 24-11 in the final quarter to earn the victory. Jessie Schiro hit three 3-pointers en route to 13 points and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Joliet Junior College (25-8), a 74-69 winner over Madison College (20-9) in the semifinal, was paced by Kianna Campbell's 14 points.

The defending national champions and the #2 team in the NJCAA Division III Poll, Rock Valley College (19-12) will host NJCAA Region XII winner Columbus State Community College for the NJCAA District B Championship on Saturday, March 3. The winner will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament, March 15-17, hosted by RVC in Rockford, Illinois.
