Rock Valley continues defense of national title on home floor

The 2018 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship seems as tailor-made as any tournament could be for Rock Valley College to come out on top. The defending national champion Golden Eagles will not only enter as the tournament's top seed, but they will also literally be the home team for every game as RVC will host the eight-team event inside the RVC Physical Education Center in Rockford, Illinois.

Rock Valley College, winners of the NJCAA Region IV Division III title, earned a repeat trip to the national stage with a resounding 92-53 defeat of Region XII winner Columbus State Community College (OH) in the NJCAA District B Championship. Madison Vicencio and Madi Hecox each scored 22 points, with Vicencio hitting six 3-pointers and grabbing ten rebounds to complete a double-double.

The Golden Eagles, who are 20-12 and seeking their fifth title in the last seven years, open the tournament with quarterfinal matchup against Rowan-Gloucester County College (NJ/24-3). Tip off is at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15.
