JOLIET, ILL. - Oakton College made it back-to-back Region 4 Division III Tournament titles after a wild three days of baseball that culminated in a 9-8 victory for the #3-seeded Owls over #4-seeded Waubonsee Community College. The championship marks the sixth region banner in the last eight years for Oakton. Bill Fratto was named Region 4 Coach of the Year.

Oakton College began their postseason run with a road upset over #2-seeded College of DuPage 4-2 to advance to the semifinals against the Chiefs. A back-and-forth game ended with an 8-7 walk-off win for the Owls, and after Waubonsee rolled to a 13-5 victory over top-seeded Joliet Junior College in an elimination game, the two teams met again with the championship on the line.

The game opened with a three-run first inning for the Chiefs, who eventually still held a 5-1 advantage after five innings. The Owls turned it around in the sixth with a seven-run frame to go up three runs, and then added an insurance run in the seventh for a 9-5 differential. That run proved to be the difference as Waubonsee Community College pushed three runs across in the top of the ninth, but was unable to score the tying run as Oakton claimed the 9-8 victory. Parker Reinke was 3 for 4 with a walk, two runs scored, and two runs batted in, while Giovanni Long and Tyler Heath each had three hits and combined to score three runs. Reed Frazier and Liam Fitzgerald split the pitching duties, with Fitzgerald (2-2) earning the win as the Owls advance to the district tournament.
