DuPage grabs fourth consecutive third place finish at NJCAA nationals

CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. & PLYMOUTH, IND. - The final results of the NJCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships at Chautauqua Golf Course, is beginning to feel a bit like a rinse-and-repeat situation as the College of DuPage placed third behind the same two teams for the fourth consecutive year. The Chaparrals did see three players earn NJCAA All-American accolades with top-18 finishes. Meanwhile, the trio of Black Hawk College, Highland Community College, and Bryant & Stratton College finished 17th, 20th, and 21st, respectively, at the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships at Swan Lake Golf Resort.

The College of DuPage played consistent golf throughout the week, opening with back-to-back 18-hole scores of 306 on the first two days of competition. Trailing Georgia Military by 14 shots entering Round 3, they turned in a 298 score to attempt to put more pressure on the top of the leaderboard. A final day 304 solidified yet another third place finish with a four-day total of 1,214 to sit 28 shots back of second place Georgia Military and 78 strokes behind Sandhills Community College, which won its fifth straight national title. Nathan Kwiatkowski paced the Chaps with a 294 (72-78-71-73/+6) to place eighth overall and earn NJCAA Second Team All-American. Teammates Sam Durkin and Luke Pringle both received NJCAA Third Team All-American with finishes of 14th and 18th, respectively. Rock Valley College's Logan Garafol also tied for 22nd overall with a plus-24 312 (77-80-82-73), while Joliet Junior College's Ryland Megyeri shot 326 (84-83-81-78/+38) to tie for 38th.

At the Division II event, Black Hawk College finished in 17th with a four-day total of 1,266 (315-314-320-317). Not far behind were the Cougars at 1,281 (328-318-326-309) and the Bobcats with a 1,293 (322-330-322-319). Wil Sigwarth of BHC carded to top individual score with a 305 (74-74-81-76/+17) to tie for 29th and miss All-American by two shots.
