Aguilera-Guillen leads Malcolm X to first Region 4 title

CHICAGO, ILL. - The NJCAA Region 4 Division I Men's Soccer Tournament was a single game between City of Chicago schools Kennedy-King College and Malcolm X College, who met on October 29 with a spot in the district tournament on the line. In the end, it was all Hawks as Malcolm X College blew past the Statesmen 12-0 to claim their first Region 4 championship. Sophomore Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen was named Region 4 Tournament Most Valuable Player, with coach Jesse Rosen receiving Region 4 Coach of the Year honors.

Aguilera-Guillen scored six goals and produced two assists for a 14-point performance. Fellow second year Elvis Dankwah tallied four goals and two assists for ten total points. Dankwah started the game with three goals in the first ten minutes to set the tone.

Malcolm X College posted a 29-0 edge in shots, with goalkeepers David Gonzalez and Gerardo Pantoja combining to make six saves and earn the shutout win.

The victory propelled the Hawks into the NJCAA Midwest District Semifinals, where they lost 2-1 against Illinois Central College. Jesus Rodriguez scored the lone goal.
