Joliet repeats as Region 4, Midwest District champions in 2025

JOLIET, ILL. - One year after a historic run to a first region championship and eventual trip to the national tournament, the Joliet Junior College men's soccer team decided to run it back and repeat in 2025. The Wolves defeated UW-Whitewater at Rock County by a 10-2 final to successfully defend their crown as Region 4 Division III Men's Soccer Tournament champions. Head coach Cris Trillo was awarded the Region 4 Coach of the Year.

Joliet wasted no time asserting its control over the Warhawks, netting three goals in the first seven minutes of the match. Richard Tetteh tallied the first in the 4', and Francisco Sanches Do followed with another in the 5'. UWWRC got on the board with a Jayden Cain goal to make it 2-1 in the 7'. Linus Asenkerschbaum scored the first two of his eventual hat trick win the 26' and 28' for a 4-1 advantage. After Zach Vroman closed the Warhawks deficit to 4-2 in the 39', Asenkerschbaum completed the three-goal performance in the 41'. Tetteh and Richard Goense each scored before the half was over to make it 7-2. PERRYSBURG, OHIO & AUSTIN, MINN. - The victory sent JJC east to a NJCAA Midwest District Tournament semifinal match against Region 12 winner Owens Community College. The Wolves would defeat the Express by a 3-1 final, thanks to goals by Pablo Anton (32'), Jaime Gutierrez (59'), and Richard Tetteh (73') before OCC scored their lone goal in the 76'. Goalkeeper Ivan Escatel was credited with one save. 

In need of one more win for a return trip to nationals, Joliet Junior College now ventured west to square off with Riverland Community College. The Wolves broke a scoreless game in the 37' as Linus Asenkerschbaum converted a Francisco Sanches Do pass for a 1-0. It held into the second half until the Blue Devils posted the equalizer in the 64'. Aiden Shaughnessy stepped up as the JJC hero, delivering a scoring strike in the 83' for the game-winner in a 2-1 victory. Escatel came through with a clutch four saves. (Recap: Joliet)

HERKIMER, NEW YORK - At the 2025 NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championships, Joliet Junior College faced an uphill battle as they earned the #8 seed and drew a quarterfinal match against perennial power and top-seeded Dallas College Richland. In addition, the tournament was being played in snowy and cold conditions. The Thunderducks limited JJC to five shots on goal and used an 8' goal to propel themselves to a 3-0 victory. Joliet then took on #5-seeded Suffolk County Community College in a consolation match and lost 1-0 to end their season with an 11-7-3 record.
