18 Winter 2025-26 Region 4 Student-Athletes earn NJCAA All-American accolades

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its list of All-Americans for the 2025-26 winter sports season, and 18 student-athletes representing Region 4 were recognized. The group includes nine from men's basketball, four from women's basketball, three in wrestling, and two from men's bowling. There are five first team recipients, five second team honorees, two third team selections, and six honorable mention distinctions. The student-athletes represent 12 Region 4 institutions.
Madison, Moraine Valley compete on national stage

HICKORY, NO. CAR. - When national tournament time rolled around in 2026, Region 4 was represented by two schools in the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championships as Madison College and Moraine Valley Community College took on the best in the country. The WolfPack was making its first-ever appearance at the Division II tournament and eighth appearance overall; however, it was their first since winning a Division III championship in 2010. The Cyclones last qualified in 2019 and were making their fifth all-time appearance.

Moraine Valley, Madison end Region 4 championship draughts

ROCKFORD, ILL. - A pair of championship draughts came to an end as Moraine Valley Community College and Madison College won the 2026 Region 4 Division II Midwest District A & B Tournament titles. The Cyclones claimed their fifth region crown overall, third in the last nine years, and first since 2019. The WolfPack, meanwhile, secured their third Region 4 championships and their first since taking the Division III title in 2016. Delwyn Jones and Angel Whetstone were named Region 4 Coaches of the Year.
Triton breaks through for first Region 4 crown in five years

RIVER GROVE, ILL. - Since winning the Regio 4 title in 2020-21, Triton College had lost four straight championship games until finally breaking back through with a 68-57 win over defending champion Olive-Harvey College to claim the 2026 Region 4 Division I Women's Basketball Tournament. Its the Trojans second championship in Division I and fifth overall. Head coach Drew Winston was named the Region 4 Coach of the Year.
Madison's Davenport, Kalinowski earning local honors for years of service

A pair of Madison College coaches are being recognized for their years of service and success, as well as one former coach and one former student-athlete. WolfPack baseball coach Mike Davenport has been announced as part of an upcoming Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Assocation (WBCA) Hall of Fame Class of 2026, while former baseball coach and current head softball coach Leo Kalinowski was recently presented the Gus Burwell Distinguished Service Award by the Madison Dugout Club. Additionally, former Madison College women's basketball coach Steven Bentin and former men's basketball player Eric Nelson are among a group of 30 to be inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Assocation (WBCA) Hall of Fame.

RIVER GROVE, ILL. - History was made Saturday as Olive-Harvey College defeated host Triton College by a 70-62 final to claim their first Region 4 Divison I Women's Basketball Tournament championship. Panthers coach Jeff Dillard was named the Region 4 Coach of the Year.
Rock Valley, Lake County both secure first Region 4 Division II crowns

ROCKFORD, ILL. - The 2025 version of the Region 4 Division II Women's Basketball Tournaments finished with some fresh blood at the top, as Rock Valley College and the College of Lake County claimed the Midwest District A and Midwest District B titles, respectively. The top-seeded and host Golden Eagles held off #4-seeded Black Hawk College by an 81-70 final to win their first region crown since taking the Division III championship in 2022. The #2-seeded Lancers, meanwhile, upended #6-seed Kankakee Community College with a 75-56 victory to secure the program's first-ever Region 4 title. Darryl Watkins of RVC and Tanner Morris of CLC were named Region 4 Coaches of the Year.
Joliet claims NJCAA Central District title, earns #9 seed at national tournament

DALLAS, TEXAS - The only Division III women's basketball team in Region 4 is headed to the national tournament after Joliet Junior College won a pair of games in Texas to claim the NJCAA Central District Championship. The Wolves defeated Dallas College-Mountain View on Saturday by a 73-54 final to earn an automatic bid into the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championships.
Region 4 Hall of Fame welcomes nine-member Class of 2025 for induction

The NJCAA Region 4 Hall of Fame is pleased to announce a nine-member induction Class of 2025. The group includes eight student-athletes, one of which is also recognized for lifetime achievement, and one national championship team that all excelled during their time competing in Region 4. The inductees represent five different Region 4 schools, including three inductees from Madison College, two each from Joliet Junior College and Oakton College, and one from the College of DuPage.

Morton, Rock Valley battle to 5th place bracket at NJCAA Div. II Championships

JOPLIN, MO - Morton College and Rock Valley College represented Region 4 at the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championships from March 18-23 at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. Both teams won their opening game in the second round before falling in the quarterfinals to dop into fifth place bracket, which the Panthers eventually won.
