Joliet earns first women's golf championship, RVC's Redig takes medalist honors

BYRON, ILL - Joliet Junior College won the first-ever Region 4 Division III Women's Golf Championship on May 5 at PrairieView Golf Club. The Wolves fielded the only full team in the tournament to win the program's first title as Skip Steffey was named Region 4 Coach of the Year. The individual title, and the award of Region 4 Golfer of the Year, went to Megan Redig of Rock Valley College.

Joliet Junior College saw its four golfers place third through sixth en route to a two-day total of 771. The Wolves opened with an 18-hole score of 380, and followed it up with a 391 in Round 2. Kenady Miller paced JJC with a 189 after leading the tournament in Round 1 with a 92, and carded a 97 the next day. Alexis Hora was fourth with a 191 (96-95), followed by Sarah Mills at 193 (97-96) and Adrianna Cottrell at 198 (95-103).

Rock Valley College's Redig trailed Miller by a stroke heading into the final 18 holes, and responded with the lowest round of the tournament with an 86. Her 179 was eight shots better than the College of DuPage's Aubreye Hyatt, who posted a 187 with scores of 97-90 to earn runner-up.

The 2025 NJCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships are June 3-6 at Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, New York.
