Region 4 teams, individuals compete at NJCAA Division I & III Women's Tennis Championships
TYLER, TEXAS & CHATTANOOGA, TENN. - Region 4 was well-represented at the NJCAA Division I & III Women's Tennis Championships during the 2023-24 season. In November, the College of DuPage finished with 1.0 point to take sixth place at the Division III tournament. In May, Sauk Valley Community College placed 23rd in a 28-team field to register the top finish by a region team at the Division I event.
NJCAA Women's Tennis Championships Final Results: Division I | Division III
Right behind SVCC in Texas was Moraine Valley Community College in 23rd place with 2.5 points and McHenry County College in 26th place with 1.0 point. Elgin Community College and Oakton College were also represented. Maya Morris of MVCC won her opening match in No. 4 Singles by a 6-4, 6-2 score before falling in the second round. In the No. 6 Singles draw, Sauk Valley's Lindsey Johnson took advantage of a first round bye and then claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jessica Buker of Mercer County Community College in the second round. She would ultimately loss in the third round in straight sets. McHenry's Alivia Adams dropped her opening match, but then claimed an 8-2 win in the No. 6 Singles Consolation Quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals. In doubles play, Riley Dunn and Lindsey Johnson of SVCC played to a 6-2, 6-2 win over a Weatherford College duo in the opening round of the No. 3 Flight. (Recap: NJCAA)
At the Division III championships this past November, DuPage's Natalia Klus used a 12-10 tiebreaker to defeat Melissa Blanchard of RCSJ Gloucester after splitting the first two sets 3-6, 6-1 in her No. 1 Singles Backdraw. (Recap: NJCAA)
