DuPage secures another 3rd place finish at NJCAA Div. III Championships

CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. & PLYMOUTH, IND. - The College of DuPage earned a third place finish for the fifth year in a row at the NJCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships at Chautauqua Golf Club from June 2-5. The Chaparrals placed three individuals in the top 18 to earn NJCAA All-American status. At the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships at Swan Lake Resort, Black Hawk College placed tied for eighth and Bryant & Stratton College's Marquez Angeles tied for third overall.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its list of All-Americans for the 2025-26 spring sports season and 71 student-athletes representing Region 4 were recognized. The group includes 49 from men's and women's track & field, nine in men's and women's golf, eight from baseball, and five in softball. There are 20 first team recipients, 25 second team honorees, 23 third team selections, and three honorable mention distinctions. The student-athletes represent ten Region 4 institutions.

BYRON, ILL. - You can count on one hand the number of times Black Hawk College has not been the Region 4 champion over the last two decades. The Braves added another in 2026 as they completed a three-peat by claiming the Region 4 Division II Men's Golf Tournament championship for the 17th time since 2006 after competing at PrairieView Golf Club from April 26-28. Black Hawk posted a three-day total of 905 to finish 18 shots in front of runner-up Highland Community College. Freshman Marquez Angeles of Bryant & Stratton College secured the Region 4 Golfer of the Year with a three-over-par 219. Shayne Shepherd of BHC was awarded Region 4 Coach of the Year.

BRISTOL, ILL. - The College of DuPage men's golf team completely dominated the rest of the field at the 2026 Region 4 Division III Men's Golf Tournament at Blackberry Oaks Golf Club on May 3-4. The Chaparrals won their seventh consecutive region crown with a 621 team score over the two-day event, resulting in a 25th region title overall and 14th under head coach Jason Hyatt, who earned yet another Region 4 Coach of the Year award. Sophomore Nathan Kwiatkowski was the 2026 Region 4 Golfer of the Year with a 36-hole total of five-over-par 149.

The group includes 66 from men's and women's track & field, ten in women's golf, seven from baseball, six in softball, three from men's golf, and two in men's tennis. There are 35 first team recipients, 31 second team honorees, four third team selections, and 22 honorable mention distinctions. The student-athletes represent 13 Region 4 institutions.

CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. & PLYMOUTH, IND. - The final results of the NJCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships at Chautauqua Golf Course, is beginning to feel a bit like a rinse-and-repeat situation as the College of DuPage placed third behind the same two teams for the fourth consecutive year. The Chaparrals did see three players earn NJCAA All-American accolades with top-18 finishes. Meanwhile, the trio of Black Hawk College, Highland Community College, and Bryant & Stratton College finished 17th, 20th, and 21st, respectively, at the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships at Swan Lake Golf Resort.

BYRON, ILL. - An early-May tradition continued for yet another year as the College of DuPage won its sixth consecutive Region 4 Division III Men's Golf Tournament at PrairieView Golf Club on May 5. The Chaparrals now boast 24 region crowns all-time, including 13 under Region 4 Coach of the Year Jason Hyatt. Rock Valley College's Logan Garafol came away with a one-shot victory to earn Region 4 Golfer of the Year.

BYRON, ILL. - Black Hawk College led all three rounds of the 2025 Region 4 Division II Men's Golf Tournament at PrairieView Golf Club, earning a repeat championship and the program's 16th since 2006. The Braves three-day total of 916 was 15 shots better than runner-up Highland Community College and 31 strokes in front of Bryant & Stratton College in third place. Colby Robertson of Carl Sandburg College defeated BHC's Leo Fiscus in a playoff to earn Region 4 Golfer of the Year, while Black Hawk's Shayne Shepherd was named Region 4 Coach of the Year.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 4 membership will grow by two for the 2024-25 academic calendar with a pair of Janesville, Wisconsin-based institutions. Blackhawk Technical College and UW-Whitewater at Rock County will push the number of school in Region 4 to 32.

For the third straight year, the College of DuPage placed third at Chautauqua Golf Course for the Division III tournament, while Black Hawk College led a trio of region squads with a 17th place finish at the Division II event.

BYRON, ILL. - Black Hawk College was the class of Region 4 men's golf for more than a decade, winning 14 consecutive region titles between 2006 and 2019. The Braves snapped a three-year run without a championship by taking the 2024 NJCAA Region 4 Division II Men's Golf Tournament on April 28-30 at PrairieView Golf Club. Led by medalist Mason Steinert, BHC posted a three-day total of 945 to hold off a late charge from runner-up Madison College with a 955. Steinert shot nine-over-par 225 for the tournament to earn Region 4 Golfer of the Year, while Shayne Shepherd was named Region 4 Coach of the Year.

HIGH FIVE: DuPage stakes claim to fifth consecutive, 23rd overall Region 4 title

BYRON, ILL. - The list of teams contending may change from year-to-year, but one thing remains clear when it comes to the NJCAA Region 4 Division III Men's Golf Tournament: it belongs to the College of DuPage. The Chaparrals claimed their fifth consecutive crown at PrairieView Golf Club on May 12-13, giving them 23 total region crowns and 12 under Hall of Fame head coach Jason Hyatt. DuPage posted a two-day of 640 to clip runner-up Rock Valley College by 11 shots, giving Hyatt yet another Region 4 Coach of the Year award. Region 4 medalist honors was decided in a playoff, which was won by RVC's Griffin Smits over Hagan Rank of COD to send Smits to the national tournament.
